The eagle gets it's fish...

My first metalsmithing class was one that the teacher truly pushed our creativity and forced us to connect with our piece.

Now I more than appreciate the actions of my professor since it has become more of an art rather than just putting pretty things together. I love pretty shiny things don't get me wrong but creating something that connects can just be more inspirational and gratifying to accomplish.

One project was to create a charm bracelet with a personal story. Since my then boyfriend had just proposed to me I created a sterling silver bracelet with a connecting charm featuring an eagle catching a fish. The story comes from my maiden name translating to 'the eagle' in english. My now husband is a true fisherman, so I carved out both an eagle and a fish and placed the fish in the eagles claws symbolizing that the eagle has now caught her fish.

Since this was a first metalsmithing class the charm is a bit raw but has such a special place in my heart.
